Overview
Civil engineering is probably the best known type of engineering because the work of the civil engineer is clearly visible to us every day. Civil engineering is all about creating, improving and protecting the environment in which we live. It involves the planning, design and construction of facilities that we require everyday living, industry and transport.
Civil engineering also aims to solve environmental issues such as air pollution, coastal protection and waste treatment. As a civil engineer, you will have a creative, diverse and challenging career and will be making a real contribution to the needs of both modern and developing societies all over the world. Students will have the opportunity to take a four-month Industry Placement in Year 3.
