Overview
Manufacturing is the biggest employer in Irish industry. Furthermore, according to the European Commission, industry is the backbone of the European economy, accounting for 80% of Europe’s exports and private innovations, and providing high skilled job opportunities.
This programme will deliver high quality manufacturing engineering graduates to support the local, national, and international manufacturing and service industries. It will provide the opportunity for prospective students to gain transferable knowledge and skills in order to develop rewarding and progressive careers. If you are interested in designing, implementing, and managing optimal manufacturing processes that will give Ireland's manufacturing industry the opportunity to grow and compete internationally, then this degree is for you.
The programme is very practical with weekly lab classes, workshop practice, individual and group projects as well as company-based work experience. A typical week involves 24 hours of instruction. Tuition is given on the latest CAD packages and leading-edge CNC turning and milling machines. Students will learn how to work together in teams to accomplish specified goals and targets, develop problem solving skills, being creative and innovative, and gain experience in Six Sigma and Project management methodologies.
