The aim of this programme is to support Registered Nurses to adhere to internationally recognised best practice guidance in Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory nursing care.

For many nurses working in the Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory, this will be an upskilling programme, providing contextual skills and competencies to build, promote and manage their patient cohort.

This programme offers an excellent opportunity for registered nurses to move to the next stage of their career. It is expected that graduates of the programme will also be well positioned to take a leadership role in Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory nursing practice.

Graduates will benefit from enhanced leadership and management competencies and applied skills that will improve their employability and effectiveness as professionals. The proposed programme matches this objective, matching the needs of graduates in the Public and Private Healthcare Sector.

The entry requirement for undertaking the programme is an Honours Degree (H2.2) in General Nursing. Current registration on the appropriate division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland live register. Candidates must be employed in a clinical area that is approved as an appropriate clinical learning environment by the programme board and satisfies the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland Requirements and Standards for nurse applicants. Candidates must also remain in this employment for the duration of the programme.
