Free conference examines technologies and services offered in The Cloud

CloudBusting, a free, day-long technology conference hosted in association with the Information Technology Association Galway (ITAG), Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT) and Hewlett-Packard (HP) will take place in GMIT, Galway, on Friday 14 September.

The one-day conference will examine the technologies and services offered in the Cloud and give delegates an insight into essential Cloud topics including delivery models, market trends, the benefits of implementing a Cloud solution, private, hybrid and public cloud offerings, and the differences between IaaS, PaaS, SaaS.

Cloud computing is now considered one of the top strategic technology trends. It sets the stage for a new approach to IT that enables individuals and businesses to choose how they will acquire and deliver IT services, with reduced emphasis on the constraints of traditional software and hardware licensing models.

The conference includes separate tracks for start-up companies and organisations working in the cloud; developers of cloud services; emerging and evolving web technologies; new trends in social media; and music applications developed or offered via the cloud.

The keynote speaker is Dave Allen, Director of Interactive Strategy at North Inc., and Adjunct Lecturer, Digital Brand Strategy at the University of Oregon.

Damien Joyce, HP Senior Technical Engineer, says “the CloudBusting conference is an opportunity to hear from some of the new exciting Irish start-up companies working in the Cloud as they share their experiences. It provides an opportunity to listen to a broad range of stellar speakers on a cross-over day of technology under one roof and adds to a culture of openness around engineering”

Martin Gibbons, GMIT IT Manager and a member of the board of ITAG, added that “the goal of this day-long community event is for attendees to leave with a better understanding of the different ways to architect, develop and deploy applications and IT solutions in the Cloud.”
