Legal Framework for Community and Youth Work

Description

This module will introduce students to the legal environment which frames community and youth work. It will sensitise learners to the legal issues which arise in their work.

Learning Outcomes

  1. demonstrate an awareness of the legislation governing youth work practice;

  2. have an appreciation of the aims and limitations of tort law;

  3. have an awareness of the sources of law and the impact that each of these sources of law have on the area of community and youth work;

  4. articulate an awareness of the enforcement mechanisms and sanctions under the relevant pieces of legislation,

  5. articulate and understanding of governance and how the principles of governance are to be applied to the community and youth sector.
