What are the Fees?

Information on Fees

There are two main elements to Undergraduate Fees at ATU:

1. Student Contribution - all students are liable for the Student Contribution fee. The fee for the 2024/25 Academic Year is €3,000.

2. Tuition Fee - the government will pay the Tuition Fee for most first-time, full-time EU Undergraduates as part of the Free Fees Initiative. Learn more about the Free Fees Initiative . If you are not covered under the Free Fees Initiative, you may be liable for the tuition element of your fee, or be liable for the Non-EU fee.

Many of our courses also have a Materials Fee which is not covered by grant authorities.

If you require information regarding the Material Fees applicable to a programme please contact the student fees office at studentfees.galwaymayo@atu.ie.

Fee Assessment

The fees you are required to pay are based on two schemes:

1. Third Level Trainee Scheme Levels 6 & 7

2. Free Fees Initiative Level 8 only

Fee Collection

The Fee Collection Office is responsible for collecting all applicable fees from students for the academic year.

If you don't pay fees which are overdue, you will lose access to our IT systems and Library. Please email Fee Collection for any queries.

Repeat Fees

1.  Repeat Attend

The repeat attend fee is based on students attending lectures for the failed module and sitting the examination at the end.

The fee is calculated on a per-credit basis. There may also be a material fee charge on top of this.

2.  Exam Only

This fee is for a student to repeat to sit an examination. This can be for any number of credits.

This fee is currently €100.

*Correction of Fees: Please note the Institute reserves the right to correct the fee charged to a student in the event that an incorrect fee is charged in error, or where incorrect information is given at enrolment/registration, or where a change arises in student circumstances that affect the fees due.
