Applied Networking Technology 1
Description
This module aims to introduce students to modern computer networking concepts, protocols, technologies and utilities. This module focuses on the lower 3 layers of the OSI model, Physical, Data Link and Network, looking at these networking protocols. Students will build, configure and test "virtual networks".
Learning Outcomes
Demonstrate ability to configure, test and deploy a medium sized LAN.
Understand modern Physical network technologies, fibre optics, co-axial, copper
Identify functionality of various networking elements, switches, Routers
Configure DHCP, DNS and various other virtual servers
Understand IPv4 addressing including Public / private addresses, CIDR, NAT / PAT
