ATU Connemara Campus

ATU Connemara is the National Centre of Excellence for Furniture Design and Technology and has been synonymous with the study of furniture design, making and technology since 1987.

All furniture industry programmes have a common entry first year programme (BSc in Furniture Design, Making and Technology), with subjects designed to provide students with an introduction to furniture making techniques, materials, and equipment. After Year 1 students choose their preferred degree in one of the disciplines below. Please note that students may also select one of the disciplines below on the CAO form and will complete the common entry first year programme as a normal as part of their course.

• Furniture Design and Manufacture
• Furniture Making and Architectural Woodworking

ATU Connemara also offer an Honours degree in:

• Education (Design, Graphics and Construction)

The campus is renowned for its state-of-the-art facilities and equipment. Our laboratories and workrooms are fully equipped and include CNC and laser technology, as well as robotics.

Our graduates are recognised for their innovative, creative and proactive approach to projects. Over the years they have been the recipients of numerous awards both nationally and internationally, including Design and Craft Awards, National Skills Awards, Undergraduate Awards and Wood Marketing Awards.

Work placements are an integral part of our programmes. ATU Connemara collaborates with companies from all over the world and this provides students with the opportunity to work with leaders in the furniture design and manufacturing industry.
