Child Care
Description
This module aims to develop the student’s understanding of how to apply key concepts to care of the child as they develop working in partnership with their families. The student will develop a social care toolkit of approaches and models to work with service users as active participants in their own care, taking into consideration cultural contexts, vulnerability and family situations. Students through case studies will evaluate models of practice which apply principles of person-centred and family-centred care to recognise the significance of the social care worker's role when working with families and within interdisciplinary teams. This exploration will examine self-awareness, communication, working in partnership, effective decision-making and advocacy when working with children and families. As a social care worker they will recognise the significance of respectful professional boundaries, roles and relationships with colleagues in interdisciplinary team work when meeting service use needs.
