European History 1: Renaissance and Revolution, 1450-1800

Description

The aim of this module is to provide a compact synthesis of Europe’s Renaissance, Reformation and Revolution periods. The major themes comprise scientific breakthroughs and their social and economic consequences, the connections between the discovery of new lands and the recovery of ancient learning, Europe’s economic expansion, humanist culture, the reform and revolution in the Church and the reform and revolution of political states.
