Forensic Evidence Evaluation

Description

This module covers the statistical methods required for the analysis and interpretation of forensic evidence, module also covers trajectories & functions for analysis of crime scenes. Student will also receive training in courtroom skills and expert witness report preparation.

 

Learning Outcomes

  1. Understand the role of exponential & logarithmics functions in forensic science and use such
    functions to solve chemical kinetic problems.

  2. Interpret data arising from measurements made at a crime scene using trigonometric
    methods.

  3. Construct likelihood ratios and apply Bayes theorem to the prosecutor / defence fallacy

  4. Calculate theoretical & empirical probabilities and determine probability distributions.

  5. Discuss the role of the forensic scientist as an expert witness and present scientific data in court room setting

  6. Conduct hypothesis testing on analytical data.
