History of Art and Design

An overview of Art History from the Renaissance to the present with particular emphasis on Irish Art & Design History from the 18th Century to the present.

1. Have a deeper awareness and appreciation of Art History and in particular Irish Art History

2. Develop visual memory and build a framework of reference to art works

3. Appreciate the works of art in the context of the prevalent ideas and historic events in which they were produced

4. Understand and be able to use the language and methods of art history

5. Explore works of art independently.
