Description

This module builds on the previous learning of tourism and culminates in an overview of global, national and local issues pertaining to International tourism, the tourism product and the tourist. It provides scope to analyse and discuss the changes that are being experienced by this dynamic, complex and ever-changing industry.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Describe the current work of the organisations and agencies that are involved in tourism at an international level.

  2. Discuss the volume and trends of global tourism and the factors that influence current patterns and shape future developments in tourism.

  3. Identify the evolving tourist behaviour and the response of destinations and markets.

  4. Discuss the management of crises; economic, political, socio-cultural, environmental, health, technological, and commercial on the tourism product and the tourism markets.

  5. Explain the economic, socio-cultural and environmental impacts of tourism on destinations and markets.
