Introduction to Civil Engineering & Health and Safety (A)

This Module aims to:

• Excite and motivate new engineering students about their chosen field of study.
• Demonstrate that problem solving can be fun, educational and enriching.
• Instill an eagerness for independent and reflective learning.
• Introduce the learner to the techniques used in the control and construction of civil engineering projects.
• Review Safety, risk assessment and management techniques.

1. Demonstrate that problem solving is fun, educational and enriching.

2. Contribute as a positive, cooperative and complementary team member in the planning and implementation of projects and problem solving exercises.

3. Identify the various types of contract and methods of measurement used in the Civil Engineering industry.

4. Identify and describe the duties of the various parties under current Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Legislation.

5.  Reflect on their learning practice and process over the year.
