13 New Frontier start-ups in GMIT Innovation Centre during 2013
9 new businesses and 38 new jobs created from 2012 programme
Thirteen new entrepreneurs established start-up companies through GMIT’s Innovation Centres in Galway and Mayo this year (2013), under the Enterprise Ireland New Frontiers programme.
The programme, which assists people with business ideas that are the genesis of future exporting companies, is currently taking enquiries on next year’s programme from interested individuals and budding entrepreneurs who have plans for similar start- ups in 2014.
Tony O Kelly, Manager of the programme in GMIT’s Innovation in Business Centres (IiBC), says: “Business start-ups is a high risk process but New Frontiers deals with many of the threats to new businesses from an early stage. Our success rate is over 80%.”
“Nine new business have emerged from the 2012 programme with sales (national & export) and 38 new jobs created in our local economy. These companies are developing new technologies, acquiring new customers, attracting investment and creating opportunities for employment”.
“If you are interested in joining this programme please email me, tony.okelly@gmit.ie, with a brief description of the gap you’ve identified in the market, your vision of product/service and potential customers. A follow-up appointment will be arranged with one of the Innovation Centre team.” adds Mr O Kelly.
