Bobby Kerr to address 'Spirit of Entrepreneurship' in GMIT Mayo

Speakers to discuss 'Starting and building a business' and 'Funding & Investment'

GMIT Mayo’s Innovation Hub will once again host the ‘Spirit of Entrepreneurship’ event in St Mary’s Hall on campus, Castlebar, on Monday 15 September. This year’s guest speaker is Bobby Kerr, entrepreneur, Dragon's Den investor and Newstalk presenter.

 

Other key speakers are Jordan Casey of Casey Games, a 14 year old self-taught entrepreneur, Elenor McEvoy, entrepreneur founder of Budget Energy and Ernst & Young Finalist (2012), Sian Breslin of Siansplan and Rory Hynes of Enterprise Equity.

 

Discussions will focus on starting and building a business as well as how to go about getting funding & investment; Sian Brelin will talk about ‘Raising over €100,000 through crowdfunding platform’ and Rory Hynes will discuss ‘Obtaining Venture Capital Funding’.

 

The event will also feature a showcase of client companies from GMIT’s Innovation Hub such as Horizon, Element Software and Irish TV, and a live pitching competition (for funding).



Maria Staunton, Manager of the GMIT Innovation Hub, says “the event is proving more and more popular each year. It is aimed at promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in the western region and is open to the general public.”
