Cáit Noone inducted into College of Fellows, Irish Hospitality Institute (IHI)

Cáit Noone, Head of the Galway International Hotel School, GMIT, has been inducted into the College of Fellows at the Irish Hospitality Institute (IHI), at the annual awards ceremony in Dublin recently (Thursday 23 November 2017).

Established in 1966, the IHI is the professional body for the Hospitality and Tourism Industry in Ireland, promoting professional development, quality standards, and education and networking opportunities.

Ms Noone was nominated for the fellowship by current IHI Fellow Douglas Jordan, a former Registrar of Fáilte Ireland. Fellowships are awarded based on a number of criteria including members’ contribution to the tourism industry over a significant period of time.

A native of Athlone, Ms Noone joined GMIT in 2007 and during that time has held a number of posts. In addition to her School post she is Vice President for International Engagement in the Institute. Prior to joining GMIT she served as the first Dean of Les Roches Jin Jiang International Hotel Management College, the first hotel school in China, and prior to that worked in Switzerland for Laureate Education. She was awarded the Mike Butt award by the Restaurant Association of Ireland in 2013 for her continued contribution to the Tourism industry.
