GMIT extends range of accredited evening courses
Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT) has increased the number of part-time course offerings at its Galway campuses, with some 90 part-time courses commencing in September.
Over thirty courses are HETAC-accredited ‘upskilling’ offerings ranging from individual modules to part-time degree and part-time masters programmes, while several are accredited by professional bodies such as Accounting Technicians Ireland, Excellence Ireland, City & Guilds, and others, delivered by GMIT lecturers.
Seven courses are available for unemployed people under the Government’s Springboard initiative. Four of these are short Science courses aimed at people who wish to work as operatives in the Medical Device, Food Science, Pharmaceutical and Biopharmaceutical sectors. These courses are delivered over two months.
A wide range of general interest and hobby courses are offered in areas such as Business, Engineering, Science, IT and Tourism & Arts.
Peter Butler, Lifelong Learning Co-ordinator, GMIT Galway, says "One of the new part-time offerings from this Septembers is the BA in Human Resource Management which, on successful completion, provides associate membership of CIPD.”
“We also have newly accredited modules such as Quality Management 1 & 2 which satisfy the training requirement for the EIQA Diploma in Quality Management.”
“Many of our courses enable people to update their skills and education and avail of new opportunities. The majority of courses are delivered between 7pm and 9.30pm, Mondays to Thursdays, at the Dublin Road campus.”
