GMIT Schools Liaison Officer, Dr Carina Ginty, says: “GMIT Open Days are excellent opportunities for teachers, students and their parents to talk to lecturers, meet current students and graduates, and explore the campus and GMIT facilities including the state of the art libraries and learning resource centre, hi-tech laboratories and workshops.”

“There will be a range of exciting workshops on offer such as art and design portfolio clinics, enterprise development workshops, social media for business, build a bridge, robot wars, live culinary arts demonstrations, electric car, marine and freshwater displays, top tips to build an app and lots more.”

“In addition, a number of specialist talks and clinics will be held on topics such as the CAO process, Finance and the grant applications system SUSI (Student Universal Support Ireland), Careers and job trends, the Students Union and its activities, and much more.”

“Students across all five GMIT campuses get opportunities to lead groups, develop innovative products and services from Apps to bespoke furniture, design buildiings, set up their own business, support communities, assist local companies with their development plans, learn new languages and lots more. Our Open Days are all about giving students an opportunity to get a real feel for learning and life on campus so that they can make the right CAO choices.”

In GMIT, students can choose from five campuses with over 70 options available on the CAO, including a variety of disciplines such as agriculture, business, ICT and computing, science, engineering, teacher education, tourism and hospitality, creative arts and media, furniture design, nursing and social care and more.
