Organisation Design

Description

The aim of the module is to give students a thorough understanding of the key concepts, frameworks, processes and activities associated with the area of designing/re-designing structure and culture components in organisations to provide an optimal strategic fit.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Discuss the role and the development of organisation theories, associated concepts and frameworks in relation to the practice of organisation design (OD).

  2. Characterisation and modelling of different types of organisations, departmental structures and reporting relationships using the key elements of OD

  3. Examine organisation strategies and the adoption of appropriate designs within the organisational life cycle and the complexities of change initiatives.

  4. Examine the role of organisational culture in organisation design.

  5. Evaluate the influence of innovation, ICT and technology on organisational design for products and services.
