Rural and Urban Tourism

Description

This module aims to introduce students to the key areas of rural and urban tourism. It will provide students with an indepth knowledge of the importance of both these types of tourism on the host communities, the economy of the region and the international market place. 

Learning Outcomes

  1. To develop an appreciation of the evolution and scope of rural and urban tourism

  2. To analyse the impacts of rural and urban tourism

  3. To inform students of the key management, marketing, policy and regulatory issues involved in rural and urban tourism

  4. To evaluate the characteristics, the motivational forces and other demographic factors that distinguish the urban and rural tourist.

  5. To review the main organisations (public and private) involved in both urban tourism and rural tourism at a local, national and international level.

  6. To provide students with case examples which constitute both best and worst practice in terms of urban and rural tourism
