Textiles and Costume for Visual and Cultural Industries

The Special Purpose Award will be a collaboration between Textiles (Art and Design) and Production Design (Film and Documentary). This module combines learning from textile design and fabric manipulation with comprehensive wardrobe and costume design for film and visual industries.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Apply research and design methodologies to generate creative design development and resolutions

  2. Employ problem solving strategies based on an understanding of contemporary and historical design

  3. Evaluate and synthesise the appropriate technical processes for fabric construction and manipulation

  4. Demonstrate an understanding of the production process of costume from initial design research to final presentation

  5. Research a costume design concept and complete visual interpretations informed by the analysis

  6. Demonstrate an awareness of the Costume Designer's role within the production process

  7. Demonstrate good workshop practice and awareness of relevant Health and Safety issues pertaining to studio and industry
