The Nature of Nursing
Description
This module aims to facilitate the student in developing an understanding of the nature and evolution of nursing and its contribution to society.
The module will also expose the student to professional issues for Nursing in particular the concepts of care, compassion and kindness and the NMBI Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics (2021) and the NMBI Guidelines on ethical standards and behaviours for Student Nurses and Student Midwives on the NMBI candidate register (ND).
Learning Outcomes
Define and describe Nursing and Health and explore the concepts of care, compassion and kindness.
Discuss the development of nursing and its contribution to society.
Explain the concept of a regulated profession and develop an awareness of the NMBI Code of Conduct and Ethics (2021).
Discuss concepts underpinning the art and science of nursing.
Explain care planning and care delivery processes in nursing and healthcare services.
